New Product: Polarization State Generator and Switch Are Faster, Smaller and Lower Power

Luna is excited to announce the launch of a new generation of solid-state magneto-optic (MO) crystals-based polarization switch and polarization state generator optical heads, designed for OEMs building photonic systems for fiber sensing, OCT, imaging and test and measurement. 

Luna's new deterministic polarization state generator (PSG-002) uses multiple binary MO polarization rotators to generate six distinctive polarization states with high speed, accuracy, and repeatability, making it an ideal choice for Mueller matrix-based measurements. In addition, the polarization switch (PSW-003) is a single MO polarization rotator which can switch between two linear polarization states, by rotating the SOP of incoming light by a fixed angle (either 45 or 90 degrees), or convert an input linear polarization state to an output circular polarization state quickly and repeatedly.PSG-002 Repeatability

Unlike the preceding designs which required a latching current/voltage to maintain the current state of polarization, the new designs are equipped with a self-latching technology so that no latching voltage/current is needed to maintain the output state. Such improvements resulted in reducing power consumption, improving the stability of the output polarization state, and lowering the excessive heat generated by the device, which can affect the accuracy of the rotation angle.
