A Message from Luna's President & CEO, Scott Graeff

Scott Graeff, Luna CEO

In December 2020 we announced the transformative acquisition of OptaSense.  This strategic move brought together two great businesses with strong adjacencies and a large, combined opportunity.  But what really made this combination so powerful is the people - talented and committed teams, coming together with a mission to enhance the safety, security and connectivity of people by leveraging our expertise in fiber optic-based technology and the information it provides.

We’ve accomplished so much in the past year as our teams actively worked together to focus on bringing solutions to our customers and maximizing opportunities in high-growth markets.  In addition, we’ve made good progress in unifying important back-office systems, consolidating manufacturing, combining certain aspects of sales and introducing some new product capabilities based on certain strengths from each company.  When we announced that Luna and OptaSense would combine, we were exiting an unprecedented year that had been largely consumed with news of COVID and all the associated challenges.  And as we looked forward to entering 2021, we certainly had higher expectations about returning to normal than what we’ve experienced this year. We have all faced continuing and unique challenges brought on by the pandemic, but I am proud that Luna has remained committed to serving customers with excellence while supporting each other.

On our third-quarter earnings call, we talked about the broad strength we’re seeing in terms of acceptance and demand for Luna products.  We talked about record-breaking demand for our products, which I believe demonstrates increasing optimism in our markets.  We exist in a privileged position where demand for our capabilities is great; we just need to capture that demand.

I look forward to continued success and the opportunities ahead of us.  Wishing you a happy and safe holiday season!
