Polarization Diverse Optical Receiver Module

The PDORM-001 is the optical processing core for a Polarization Diverse Optical Receiver Module. When combined with detectors and support circuitry, it can be used to perform balanced detection on the two orthogonal polarization components of an input optical signal, or alternatively, it can be used to perform polarization independent balanced detection.

Product Description

The PDORM-001 is a free space polarization diverse interferometer with fiber coupled inputs and outputs. The signal and reference input beams pass through a 50/50 non-polarizing beam splitter (NPBS) that combines and splits them into two equal power outputs. Each beam splitter output is then separated by a polarizing beam splitter (PBS) into its horizontal (H) and vertical (V) polarization components to generate two pairs of conjugate outputs (H1, H2 and V1, V2) that can be used for balanced detection.
